Dean earned both a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology (Great Distinction) and Master of Physical Therapy from the University of Saskatchewan. While completing his physical therapy degree he received the Marj Braid Bursary, which is awarded for academic achievement in the field of orthopaedics.

Prior to University, Dean played hockey in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL). Since that time he has continued to have an interest in sport injuries and rehabilitation. Dean’s work experience has included providing physical therapy services to the Battlefords’ North Stars of the SJHL. Dean is also a strong advocate for injury prevention and incorporates this philosophy into his daily practice. Dean’s work has included doing numerous education seminars on injury prevention at the Running Room.

Dean is certified in acupuncture through the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute (AFCI). He has also taken post-graduate courses in functional movement screening and corrective exercise prescription, functional capacity evaluation, and is working towards completing his orthopaedic levels in manual therapy through the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.
